Glen,

thanks for letting us know it was not your MobyMemory MMC with the problem.

(Older memory card readers often struggle beyond 128mb, or sometimes beyond 512mb) We searched out for a set of card readers that could handle our full range of memory cards (even our PCMCIA 6-in-1 reader can handle 1Gb MMC which is still unusual).

i agree, it is a very fast moving industry.

i still can;t believe we were selling 1Gb MMC memory at over £200 a few months ago..

Thanks for your reply. You are right it appears to be the card reader, a Radioshack 16-3855 purchased in May this year, so out of date already it seems!

An Ipaq has done an excellent job as a surrogate card reader and seems happy with the 1gb.

glen,

it sounds like you have confirmed that your 1Gb MMC is functioning fine, but you are having problems using it through your memory card reader (unlike via the SX1 data cable which is OK).

i suspect you have an older memory card reader which is incompatible with MMC cards of this size.

If your memory card reader is over 1 year old, there is a good chance it won't work (virtually all USB1.1 Card readers cannot handle >512mb MMC memory cards).

All of our memory card readers can cope with the bigger cards. I am afraid that is probably your problem. This is probably not an issue to do with your operating system.

You could confirm this if a friend has one of our readers, or one of the more recent designs, to try it in.

I have just purchased a 1gb mmc from you to use with my SX1. Put card in phone and formatted. Although a lengthy process it appears to have worked ok and I have checked against your images posted on this forum.

Then placed card in my card reader and tried to cut and paste itune mp3 files. This process has and continues to be completely successful with two 128mmc cards I have been using for MP3 play on the SX1. But when I try the 1gbmmc each time I am greeted with the message that the disk (i.e the 1gb mmc) is write protected and I can't either delete or add to it.

Puzzlingly if I use the Siemens data suite I can transfer MP3 files from the itunes folders to the 1gbmmc when it is in the SX1, although be it at a snail's pace and these play fine on the SX1.

I know it is not my reader because it still works fine with the 128s.

I am using Windows XP

Help!!
