Sandisk Ultra II 2GB SD read issues?

Hi,

Bought one of these from this site about a month ago. Something not quite right with it though.

Reads okay in my digital camera and one card reader but fails to read in my laptop integrated reader and another card reader I purchased recently.

In the readers it fails to work in the system either fails to recognise the card or reports a controller error.

Anyone experienced this type of issue with this card?

Write protect error with SG 362A USB MMC Reader

Hi,

I bought this reader and a 2GB card last year and have had no problems with either the reader or the card until now. I've also used several other cards in the reader with no problems. However, a few days ago, the reader became write protected. All my cards work fine when used in my phone, camera and MMC slot on my laptop, when inserted into the reader and then into a pc via USB, they're all reported as write protected. I've tried this on a Vista laptop, an XP desktop and a Mac - they all report it as write protected. I've also reformatted one of the cards using the MMC reader on my laptop, but as soon as it's connected via the reader, it's once again reported as write protected. I've also tried formatting in whilst in the reader using the command prompt and also whilst in safe mode - but it fails reporting the disk as write protected. I guess this proves that there's no fault with either the cards or the pc's and therefore must be the reader. Is there anything else I can try, or do I have to conclude that the reader is dead and I need to replace it?

Ok, basically my card reader appears on my computer but it says there is nothing in it, although there is. I've had it about a year but I rarely use it. Do I need any drivers or anything (XP) or shall I just buy a new one?

USB2 miniSD card reader

I recently purchased the "MobyMemory High-Speed 2GB mini-SD Card" for my PPC. It came with a free miniSD USB reader stick. Not 100% sure which model it is, as my invoice doesn't specify, but I got only 1 hit with the Search option:

I have tried it out and it appears not to work. Although the reader gets recognized, drivers auto-installed, and a new drive letter appears, the drive appears to be invalid. If I try switching to it, the drive is not recognized. I thought that perhaps the miniSD card itself needed formatting, so I re-inserted it in the miniSD > SD card sleeve and inserted it in my computer's regular 6-in-1 card reader; the card was recognized just fine, and I was able to copy files onto it. Re-trying it in the USB reader stick, I still got the invalid drive error. I tried all USB ports available to me here (3 on one laptop, 4 on another), two of which I know to be USB2 - no-go on any of them.

Am I missing something? Could the reader just be faulty? Any way to determine this?

I purchased a 2GB SD card with a high speed card reader from you a few months ago. Unfortunately the card is not being read when used with this reader anymore. I have tried on numerous pc's and I always get the same error message- Please insert card. I have tried formatting numerous cards with the reader without success.

Please advise urgently.

I have an old Toshiba Tecra 8000 running Win 98. I have just bought a 1Gb MS Pro Duo card for my Ericsson W810i and the MS Pro Pen Drive Card reader.

First I downloaded the Win98 driver for the afore mentioned drive and double clicked on the icon and followed the on screen promts. It said it was succssessfully installed. Re-booted the laptop and when finished stuck the reader in the USB port.

Windows has found new hardware a 'Mass storage device' I've been through every folder on my hard drive and can't find any thing that'll make it work. I tried the manual installation method mentioned on the Moby help page. By right clicking on the start menu and choosing 'Explore' The help page says there should be a list of drives to choose from but there's nothing in my folder.

i HAVE A USB2 MS PRO DUO FLASH PEN reader and can't get it to work at all!

The packaging says it should work with XP but everytime i plug it in it says it is not recognized and the device has malfunctioned and windows does not recogonzie the device. Have tried troubleshooting the device and my USB driver and still NOTHING!! Please someone HELP!! I know this is a £5 device but moby must have some instructions on how to work these!!

I just bought two 2GB SD memory card to use on my PDA and works fine, however, my laptop which has a built in card slot cannot read the card.

Please let me know where i can download the drives as this is not an external card reader but a built in one. The reader is in good condition because it reads other cards but not this mobi SD card.

Guys, im getting confused

Order1.

2GB minisd Memory - formats ok on phone.

install into laptop card reader, external card reader - (minisd compatible) and it doesnt recognise my MiniSD.

Just Shows up a removable disk x 4.

I insert my Nokia 128mb in card readers that works ok.

tried the 2gb Mobymemory branded minisd and doesnt work in Maplin and 2 other card readers.

So think it was an old card reader compatibility - i buy from Moby memory there 32in1 card reader.

But first i email moby memory saying does the black 32in1 card reader work OK with 2gb miniSD cards. reply recieved (yes it does sir..)

Today 32in1 reader arrives same problem. My 128mb works ok.

Now im frustrated what else can itry.

Then phone does recognise the 2gb and lets you read and write to the 2gb.

When i first got this reader from you it worked as in when i put card in and inserted the whole thing into the pcmcia slot it reconised it and gave me options in what to do, now it eventually says that it has found new hardware and is looking for drivers and to insert disk!

Every time I insert my mmc/rs-mmc card reader with or without the card inserted, XP asks me for a driver which it cannot find so installs a random driver instead. Therfore my card/card reader isnt recognised and doesnt work.

Can anyone provide me with the driver for XP?

I tried the Win98 driver but i ran it and still the same problem.

As far as I know, the two operating systems work on the same basis, but I just want to be sure before I buy.

Memory Card Reader suddenly stopped with 1GB MS Duo

Hello,

I have a MS Pro duo mobymemory card reader, and all of a sudden it's stopped reading my 1gb MS Pro Duo card.

The card works find in my phone, and I've had to return to transferring files by the usb cable.
The memory card reader works fine with a 64mb MS Pro Duo, but with my 1gb it shows an E: but claims there is no media there.

the fact that both the memory stick work (in the phone) and the card reader works (with another stick) has me quite baffled.

any light shed would be much appreciated!

Ok now i'm confused. Last week I ordered a mini SD card and a moby memory mini-sd card reader. Received very fast etc. I though my card reader wasn't quite right as it didn't have the clip down cover fitted. It appeared to have 2 small lugs where the cover should be fitted but no cover was included. This is odd because all the pics ont he web site and also the diagram on the back of the packaging show a cover marked as 'Rear Cap'.

Phone moby up and they agreed to RMA it so it sent it back and they sent out a replacement. The replacment is ALSO missing the rear cover ? so what is going on ? Anyone else have one of these and does it have the cover fitted ? or are they all the same ?

I've just taken delivery of a MMC mobile 512mb card and the recomended green single slot cardreader/pen drive.

Trouble is, I think it might be dead. I've fitted the card into the reader and plugged it into two different win2k PCs. Nothing happened, not even the LED lit up. I then got it home and put it into my linux box - OK not top of the compatibility list but it will tell you if there is a device attached - nothing there either.

Putting the card reader in empty also does nothing. Any clues would be much appreciated. It's been suggested that I format the card but a) I haven't got the phone yet, b) it looks like the reader is unable to format it, kind of chicken and egg IYSWIM.

Transfer from MMCPlus card at full speed?

The card reader at http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Reader%5FUSB2%5F23in1 says it supports MMCPlus, this is the first reader I have found that says this. But it then says speeds of around 2MB/Second which isn't any faster than my current reader. My MMCPlus 2GB card supports read speed of 22MB/Second and write of 14MB/Second. Will this reader support those speeds? To do this is would have to have the extra set of contacts for the additional 4 pins on the MMCPlus cards.

I've bought recently a 23-in-1 memory card reader. On XP of course, absolutely no problem during installation.

On Windows 2000, I need a driver. I just found the 20-in-1 memory card reader driver, so I tried this one for Win2k, but get a real problem (The instruction at "0x77e2d3a1" referenceed memory at "0x0042aae6". The memory could not be "read").

Is it supposed to be compatible ? Do you get a driver for my model ?

It looks like I just fried another card.... I bought a SanDisk USB 2.0 Reader/Writer for SD and MultiMediaCard and tried to format, well, 2 2GB MMC cards and I get the error message "Invalid media or track 0 bad - disk unusable" for both.

Could the problem be that my reader is USB 2.0, but my USB ports are only 1.0? If so, how can I "upgrade" my ports on a laptop?

Does the 11-in-1 reader support high capacity memory cards?

I purchased the 11-in-1 reader with my 1GB MMC card, hoping to consolidate all my card readers into one. Unfortunately, I have been having some problems with getting this reader to recognise my 512MB xD card (Fujifilm), and also my 1GB MS Pro Duo card (yellow Sandisk one).

Is this a fault with the reader, or does it just not like the high capacity cards? Is there a fix / workaround for this?

I'm trying to get one of these to work but when i plug it in Windows tells me:

"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it"

I've tried it on two WinXP PCs (both Dell, one with USB2 the other USB) and on a Compaq PC with Win2K (USB) and they all have the same problem. (Win2K displays a slightly different error message which I can post if required).

I've tried with different RS-MMC cards in the pen (a 512MB Kingston card that was supplied with it my mobymemory, the original Orange card and a non-DV RS-MMC I'm using in my PDA) but it doesn't work with any of them.

Any suggestions?

I have a 512MB MMC card (of the lesser quality brand Memory Corp). It works fine in my Nokia 6230 mobile phone, but the card file system gets corrupted if I try to transfer files to the card via the built in card reader of my new Ferrari 4005Wlmi notebook. The big unanswered question now is whether the MMC card is to blame (it does work in the Nokia phone) or the card reader of my brand new laptop is not following the specs of the MMC standard.

Could anyone provide me with useful information on this problem?

Is the mobymemory 512MB MMC guaranteed to be compatible with the card reader of my laptop as well as my Nokia 6230 phone?

Hi all.

I have a Compaq PC with Windows XP (Home Edition) OS. The PC has several built-in memory card slots, one of which is designed for MMC use. I have inserted the Nokia 6230 MMC into the slot to which end a small green light comes on signifying the PC has at least recognised the card. However, it all seems to end there. I would like to copy MP3 files direct on the 6230 card using this built-in slot. Nothing seems to actually access the card. Do I need software or something else to 'read' the card. (P.S. I don't have the USB lead that came with the phone).

Hi all

My moby memory 512mb card arrived promptly along with the 16 in 1 USB card reader and 3 USB 2 port thing I ordered at the same time.

If I plug the hub/reader into the back of my laptop (USB 1) it works fine (by that I mean, the plug and play recognises it and installs it fine, I have not actually used it yet).

However, I have a PCMCIA USB 2 adapter from BELKIN, with 2 USB 2 ports and it accepts a power input. If I plug the USB hub/reader into this, it recognises it, and on automatic install gets to the point of copying mondll.dll accross and it fails, completely freezing and I have to restart the computer. It also used mondll.dll when plugged directly into the laptop with no problems, so I don't think thats the problem....

This happened with a different brand of USB hub, I assumed it was the hub crashing the computer but now it seems the problem may lie with the converter. I have emailed BELKIN, but in the meantime, does anyone have any ideas?

I have had this card reader and my 256Mb card for about 1 month. Now without any reason I can find, Windows explorer reports that the card is write protected when I try to write a file to it. I can add a file to it when it is in my Nokia 6230. I think I have a card reader problem but I don't have access to another to try it.

The moby 2GB MMC memory works in my phone Ok and I'm able to see the 4 drives when the card reader is plugged in, the green 'access' light goes from Green to Orange when I insert my MMC card but when going through the 4 removable drives they all say Please insert disk

A Quick Question

I am looking to get a card reader for my new digital camera and have opted for one with the capability of reading MMC in addition to compact flash. My question is this...

Obviously you need a bluetooth dongle or data cable to say synchronise your calendar and stuff with data on your PC, so with only a card reader are you limited to just copying and moving stuff between the two, i.e. pictures, music and video? How about things like maintaining your phone book? I used to have an older Nokia, can't remember the model and it was really handy using the infra red connection to assign groups of people to calling groups etc. I take it you would need a connection between the phone and the PC rather than just the memory card?

As it's probably apparent I'm quite new to this! There used to be two data stores, the SIM card and the phone, and now with the new memory cards you can get, is this just an extension for media storage? It has nothing to do with the running of the phone and say if I were to remove it altogether the phone and SIM would still be operable?
