3.3v is normal voltage on standard RS MMC. Nokia 3230 must run its cards at this voltage as it works with standard RS MMC too

Is one voltage not for the phone and one for another device e.g. pc. What voltage do normal rs-mmc cards run at?

hi diverman,

the Nokia 3230 is compatible with both Dual Voltage RS MMC, and standard RS MMC, which means it does not run at lower voltage speed internally, i believe.

What i mean is, i would be very surprised if you gained any battery life with a DV RSMMC in the 3230, as it is the cards that are dual voltage. The phones run at either the low voltage (1.8v - like Nokia 6680, 6630, 6681 etc) or the standard voltage (Nokia 7610, Nokia 6670, Nokia 3230 etc..).

If you want compatibility with newer phones that run their memory at the lower voltage, then the DV RSMMC (or MMCMobile) is for you. Otherwise, the RSMMC will offer both price and capacity advantages to you over the newer formats.

ps. Price of 1GB RSMMC has been dropped today - to £79.99 incl VAT.

I have heard mixed stories about the 3230 and mmc cards. According to your website, the 3230 accepts normal rs-mmc cards, but do these not drain the battery much quicker than the DV version? Just trying to make a decision on which to buy!
