hi
i have just bought a new pro duo 512mb for my p910i,
after formating it on the Phone and then placed it in my card reader (connected to my windows XP) so i could transfer some files to my phone etc.

Problem is, the PC does not allow me to open my 512mb memory stick, when I click on the memory stick in file manager the computer 'locks up'

The PC had no problem reading the content of my original 32mb memory stick, (that came with the phone)
i tryed reformating the 512mb on the phone again. NO difference.

The phone sees the 467mb free space on the memory stick and works just fine but, when i place the stick in the reader and click on the memory stick in file manager the same thing happend again.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem??

many thanks

Are you sure your card reader is OK.? Is it one of ours..?

All our Memory Stick Duo memory card readers can handle PRO DUO cards up to 2GB in capacity.

If it is one of ours, then it may have a fault, from what you describe. It is working in your SE P910i, and the 32MB card works fine in the reader..

If it is not one of ours, it may only be compatible up to 128MB Memory Stick DUO, rather than PRO DUO (which go up to 2GB). This is an important point, as not many readers can handle all the new capacities for each memory card format. This is alwasy worth checking when pruchasing memory, as it saves time, effort, (and postage ) to get a compatible reader at the same time.

If it is one of our readers and you think it may have a fault, let us know and we can arrange a return to base for you.

Yours sincerely,

hi,
Thank you for your prompt reply,
i have a G-tech 19-1 card reader, that works fine with all other memory sticks exept mine (just my luck!!!!)

I would like to know what card reader you can recommend that you Know works with Sony Memory stick Pro Duo 512mB,
Do i need an adapter other than the one that came with my 32mB pro duo?
Do any drivers come with the reader?
Do i need any additional drivers to work with windows XP ?
I only ask because according to Sony Ericsson some computers require additional drivers to work with larger memory sticks like the Pro duo 512mb?
If you have a one slot reader thant you know works with the above 512mb memory stick, i would be very greatful,

many thanks

Our Memory Stick PRO DUO Memory card Reader is made for that job.

It does not require the Memory Stick adapter as it is made specifically for PRO DUO memory cards, and will transfer at quick speeds (up to 5 or 6MB per second with the really fast SanDisk Ultra PRO DUO memory card ) through the USB2 port of your Windows XP or recent MAC O/S PC.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

hi,

thanks for your prompt delivery, the USB2 card reader for MS PRO DUO 512mB you suggested worked just fine,

just show allot of the guff SOME manufactures print about the their memory card readers has to be taken with a good pinch salt and a sizeable helping of advice, very confusing.

many thanks for the advise.
