Hi there. I have purchased a Kingston MMCMobile 512MB for my Nokia 3230, so as to have compatibility with newer phones. But so far, I believe I am facing compatibility problems with my phone. It frequently causes Errors when trying to run applications (e.g. an application may run the second time I click on its icon) and sometimes when I try to take a picture with the camera, I get a message saying "cannot access memory card. Phone memory will be used instead". And last but not least, one time while I was running an application (BCalc), the phone was reset and after that memory card became corrupt and it was unreadable both in the phone and the PC and I had to format it. Of course, the phone has resets in arbitrary times, especially during an incoming or outgoing call. When using the 32MB memory that came with the phone, or the 64MB memory card that comes with the Nokia 6680, I have not experienced any problem. I should also add that I have already changed my Kingston memory assuming there was a problem with the card, but it seems that there is a general problem with the MMCMobile Card and the phone. I would be very grateful if anyone who knows more about this issue can inform me of the exact nature of the problem. I don't know if it is a problem of the phone (Nokia 3230) or the memory card (Kingston). According to Kingston, this memory is compatible with my phone but that is something I have not experienced so far.

Any ideas?

We dont like to comment too much on other manufacturer's cards. We have sourced Kingston in the past, and generally, we have found they can be prone to issues, and number of returns was higher, in our experience, for our target audience of mobile phone usage. But you may well find another Kingston MMCmobile works OK with your Nokia 3230, that tends to be how it works with their cards.

The card that came with the Nokia 6680 must have been a dual voltage RSMMC at the least, so clearly your 3230 is happy enough with that.

We dont have a 3230 in stock right now to try ourselves with our 512MB MMCmobile, but we have certainly sold quite a few to people who registered as Nokia 3230 owners.

Whereever possible, we try to source higher grade SLC memory cards from other sources, as this gives (to our experience) a more consistent and reliable performance with mobile phone usage (Nokia's especially). Price and capacity is not the only guide in purchasing decision, reliability and general compatibility is another important one too.

I suggest using your Kingston warranty to ask for a replacement, and if no luck with the replacement, then go for a refund.

Cheers
