Having learnt to live with (never love) Nokia Audio Manager,  I (foolishly ?) accepted the proferred "upgrade" this morning to PC Suite v6.8.20 which comes with Nokia Music Manager.

I grant that NMM looks prettier than NAM.  However I can't seem to work out how to access tracks held in subfolders on the memory card in order to build a playlist containing those tracks.  As we all know, the only way to keep a 6230i sane is to take music tracks off the root directory and keep them in subfolders.  But now I can't build playlists referencing them !  Anyone worked it out yet ?

you have to put musin in the phone through NMM and store them also in that folder `my collection` or something.then you can make playlists, but i think that is not quite well done from nokia because you have to keep the mmc in the phone thus render our usb reader useless and also lose a lot of time if you have bigger cards.

just stick bak to vers 6.6 for now

I've downloaded v6.8.20 and had a quick look at Nokia Music Manager.

Unfortunately it still takes AGES to read all the tracks on my 2GB card. I prefer using MobiMB as it reads them all in a few seconds and creating playlists is so much easier.

However when I get a chance I'll see if I can put some instructions together for using the new Nokia Music Manager.

OK,

I've had a quick play around and am starting to get used to the new Audio Manager.  It has a few settings that take a bit of getting used to, but hopefully this will get you all started.

Connect your phone and then start Nokia Music Manager

Click Options -> Settings

At the bottom 'Location Of My COllection' click the Browse button and point it to where you save your MP3's on the PC.

Click the Nokia 6230i tab

In the 'Path to music files on the Nokia 6230i' section click the browse button and point it to where you save your music on your 6230i.

If you wish, set the 'Memory Settings For Random Transfer'.  This sets how much of your phone to fill with a randomly chosen selection of music (if you wish to use this function)

Click OK.

Nokia Music Manager will now load your PC MP3's into the MY Collection section and your phone files into the Nokia 6230i section.

Transferring a track from PC to Nokia

Click on a track(s) in My Collection and click the icon in the very bottom right of the window (picture of phone with arrow pointing towards it) to copy to your phone.

The file is placed in the directory you chose but with a sub dir for Artist and ALbum

Creating A Playlist Of Tracks On Your Phone

Click to select one or more of the tracks in the Nokia 6230i section then click the icon in the very bottom left of the window (picture of a musical note on a clipboard with a + sign) to create a new playlist.

It will be automatically named, eg Playlist1.  Click to select it, then right click and choose rename to give it a better name.

I'll try to do better instructions when I get a chance, but for now use the first section to transfer your tracks, and the second section to create a playlist of your tracks AFTER you have copied them onto your phone.
