Compatibility Screenshots: Nokia 6230 - 128mb up to 1Gb MobyMemory MMCThe following screenshots show the Nokia 6230 in use with the 128mb through to the 1Gb MobyMemory MMC card: The high degree of compatibility betrween MobyMemory MMC cards and Nokia mobiles continues with the Nokia 6230.. right through the range up to the 1Gb MMC. 128mb Card with Back Open:
The Memory Details are correctly recognized for the 128mb card:
and for the 256mb..
256mb in the slot..
but for Memory cards bigger than this, the internal memory utilities report erroneous space and usage information: (this does not affect the functioning of the cards though..) However, DO NOT FORMAT OUR 512MB MMC or 1GB MMC card from the Nokia 6230. ALWAYS USE A PC TO RE-FORMAT THE CARDS (connected via a memory card reader). right now, the firmware (v3.15) in the Nokia 6230 cannot correctly identify the sizing of the bigger cards. But our MMC cards of 512mb and 1Gb still function fine (both for reading and writing files) as long as you don't try use the on-board format function!!.
This card had 980mb of MP3 files on it, which the Nokia 6230 is able to play just fine with its music player. However, please note that limitations in the FAT file system mean that you should put most of your files into sub-folders (and off the root folder) of the memory card. To access these files from the music player, you can either navigate to them individually through the Gallery application, and then open them directly (the [Gallery] is equivalent to [Windows Explorer] on your PC). Or alternatively, you can create playlists within Nokia Audio Manager to play the contents of the sub-folders on your memory card. (By default, the msuic player does not scan sub-folders, and will only scan the contents of the root folder on the memory card.) more screenshots with back open..
and the 1Gb in 6230 slot..
Please check out some of the other threads for more info on the use of playlists to get at bigger collections of music. In.aac format, the Nokia 6230 with a 1Gb is capable of storing around 50 albums of music (in good quality - recorded at 64kbps in Nokia Audio Manager). They make a great team.. See wonghongs posts on the .aac Vs mp3 format.. Another thing to note is that setting an MP3 as your ringtone from your MMC can cause some issues in reliability (especially with bigger MMCs). It is a lot for the mobile to handle when it receives a call, because it has to initialise the MMC interface, enage it, and then read a file (MP3) off it that may be a high bitrate, and large in size... we recommend people who wish to set an MP3 as ringtone to move that one to their phone mempory, and set as ringtone there. When you wish to change to a different MP3 as ringtone, then move the old MP3 back to your MMC, and then move the new MP3 to phone memory and again Set as Ringtone.. That way, you should get a more consistent and reliable performance from your Nokia 6230. (Making a snippet of the MP3 - to shorten the file and lowering the bitrate, and even converting to a midi flie will help even more if you still have problems.. ) The 1Gb MobyMemory MMC for the Nokia 6230 remains our top selling item: 1Gb MobyMemory MMC Memory card for the Nokia 6230
