Hi, im currently using your 2gb mini SD card for my N80 with no problems for a good 6 months now. Ive noticed the N80 isnt mentioned as compatible with the 4GB card as of yet!.

Are you Currently testing the 4GB card with the N80? If so, when is it likely to be confirmed <<--positive tone:   (before Christmas?). Thanks in advance.

Hi,

We are testing N- series with our new 4GB miniSD memory card, so far it's not working properly. Nokia can manage play songs, but there seems to be compatibility issue using high quality video recording, and taking high resolution pictures.

At the moment Moby Memory is not recommending 4GB miniSD card for N-series Nokia Phones. We will continue to test compatibility and any new updates will be posted on our forum.

The new 4Gb mini SD cards, are not SDHC cards? Because if they are HC, they are not compatible with regular miniSD devices.

Whats the most likely out come with this issue with the n-series phones, because I have purchased a nokia n93 and wanted to know if I should just buy the 2gb mini sd card which is currently working fine with the n-series phones or shall I wait for few more weeks and see if the issue with the 4gb's is fixed?

the 2GB miniSD remains a safer bet as there are issues with 4gb still and current Nokia N73, Nokia 6280 (and N93 likely too) firmwares.

Interestingly, i have been trialling 4GB miniSD with my Nokia E61 and so far it has been working well enough.. It has performed well with GPS software and for music playback. however, the E61 is a machine without photo/video recording so it has not been impacted by the same problem on this side.

in my opinion, the Nokia E61 is a blackberry-beater when combined with 4GB and things like a decent GPS software solution and the extra web-browsing and multi-email support..(especially MS Exchange push-mail compatibility)

cheers

Not yet, 2GB miniSD remains safest best at the moment.

Hi there,

Since you had an offer on the 4Gb MiniSD cards, I took a flyer on buying one, since I reasoned, even if I cannot record pictures/video onto it, that's a lot of apps and oggs/mp3s to listen to on the train.

However... (ominous pause)

The 4GB card is not recognised by the 'phone. Do you have to format it in some special way? I have the latest firmware as of last week (4.0623.0.42 20-09-2006) RM-92 Nokia N80 (58.01).

Any Ideas?

it should be formatted as FAT32 only via a USB2 reader-to-PC connection.

You can switch off the phone, insert the card, and reboot.. That helps sometimes as the phone has to build a memory structure it likes to be able to use it.

make sure the card is fully functioning connected to a PC first (re-formatting if necessary) before trying the above manouvre.

hope that helps.

cheers

Hi there,

I am sorry to report that the card is still not recognised. More info:

1. I have one of your (cute purple) miniSD USB2 USB card readers the card works perfectly via this reader.

2. Formatted FAT32 - the 'phone will not recognise the card at all.

3. Formatted FAT16 with 64k sectors - The 'phone sees the card, but says that it is corrupt, and will not format it.

Hey ho, so I now have a 4GB memory stick 'cos the card plus the reader are smaller than my previous USB stick.

Thanks for the help

Jon
