HOWTO: Setup and install your new O2 X3 Software

Requirements: O2 X3 phone kit (available from O2 Retail shop, or O2 Online), Windows PC (pref Windows XP)

Your O2 X3 box should come with the following components:

Phone, USB Cable, Installation CD, and Hands-Free stereo headphones..

Let start with the installation CD:

Insert the supplied CD into your CD-Rom drive, the CD will launch and the installation begins by installing connection drivers onto your PC..

To continue press ' Install Now '

Select: - Language:

           - Mobile : O2 X3

           - Cable : USB Cable (supplied with box)

To continue press 'Ok'

Plug Mobile Phone USB cable into PC's USB port. Now your PC searches for new hardware.

Installing software for new hardware.

Now you have to install the ' Handset Manager' application.

Press ' Install Handset Manager '

To continue press ' Next '

Choose your destination where you want to install Hanset Manager.

Now press finish to complete the installation.

Using the O2 X3 HandSet Manager:

If you finished with installation of Handset Manager, than let's see what we can do with that application.

Using 'Phone book'

Press 'OK' to download phone book from sim and handset memory.

After downloading you will have all your contacts in Handset Manager Phone Book (which acts as a backup for your mobiles phone book.. very handy).

Now you can change, edit or create the contacts in the list.

Creating a  new contact:

Right-click on mouse and choose ' New Entry'

Choose Search on the main toolbar. Enter the name or phone number that you want to find.

Choose download on the main toolbar, SIM and handset memory will be downloaded automatically.

Choose update on the main toolbar. You will see a confirmation of the phone book updates.

Using 'SMS/EMS Message'

Click the envelope on the left to start using SMS/EMS Message facility (handy when you want to save those thumbs from working your mobile keypad too hard!).

Handset Manager will also download messages from your phone to the PC.

You can then View messages in handset folders.

Click 'Message setup' on the menu toolbar.Enable your personal signature.

Work with SMS/EMS messages in the Handset Manager.

Choose a SMS/EMS message and right-click to bring up the pop-up menu. Than you can open, copy and move your message.

Copy SMS/EMS messages:

To copy messages, right-click on the message and choose 'Copy to' and copy the item to the selected folder.

Here you can move messages to the selected folder.

You can choose to resend to all of the recipients or unsent messages if any problem occurs during message delivery.

Click ' TO: ' to select recepients from phone book or enter the mobile number, enter the text message and insert the picture, MIDI or animation that you want to send.

If you want, you can insert smileys to your message content.

Insert MIDI:

Select MIDI file that you want to insert and play the MIDI to listen, press ' OK ' when you are done.

Unfortunately the Handset manager does not let you manage your MP3 music collection on your mini-SD memory card.

For this you will need to buy a memory card reader (we recommend our 11-in-1 USB2 Reader for mini-SD use) and probably a nice big mini-SD like a 512mb mini-SD Card too .

In the Next article, we will look at getting some MP3 music files onto your mini-SD memory card using one of our readers, and then playing them on your O2 X3.
